Everything is ready for the United Arab Emirates, in particular the Emirate of Dubai, to become the focal point of the world in fields as diverse as they are transcendent in human development: culture, innovation and technology, architecture, gastronomy, education and business. It will take place from next October 1st, it is Expo 2020 Dubai, the first world exhibition in the Middle East and, it has been planned, the largest ever, for many reasons, one of them, the unprecedented participation of more than 190 countries.
Under the motto “Connecting Minds, Building the Future”, Expo 2020 Dubai will take place in a complex of approximately 4.3 square kilometers located south of the magnetic city of Dubai and built expressly for this monumental meeting. This new urban space, a technological and aesthetic feat that can be reused as an urban and sustainable neighborhood after the meeting, has been designed in the form of a flower in the petals of which (Mobility, Opportunity and Sustainability) are the pavilions of the countries . , associated companies and invited organizations. All connected by a central point, Al Wasl Square (or Connectivity Square), with a technology dome about 150 meters in diameter.
Mexico will be located in the petal of mobility, with nations like Finland, Iran, Chile, Australia, Belgium, Bolivia, France, Jamaica and South Korea, to name a few. name a few. The Mexican pavilion was brought in by visual artist Betsabeé Romero, who works hand in hand with artisans from Jalisco for this installation called “Lace Weavers”. The national complex is organized by cultural director Bernardo Noval. It will show the artistic, literary, musical, choreographic, theatrical, cinematographic, gastronomic, tourist and industrial wealth of our country.

Your Excellency, are you ready to welcome the world to Expo Dubai 2020?
The United Arab Emirates is ready to host the first International Expo to be held in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia, and all the work teams of the various local, federal and private vital sectors are ready to receive the participants, waiting to welcome millions of visitors.
What strengths does the UAE want to show the world?
The success of bringing together 191 countries, each with their own pavilion, for the first time in the Expo’s 170-year history, is a source of pride and a testament to the ability of the people of the Emirates to succeed even in the light of global circumstances and challenges. In addition, the exhibition coincides with the Golden Jubilee celebrations in the United Arab Emirates (i.e. 50 years of the formation of this nation) and will be an opportunity to discover the achievements of the Emirates in all domains.
What is the UAE’s vision of Mexico and its culture?
The stages of the emergence and establishment of the United Mexican States are a source of inspiration for us and for all peoples, whether in the different paths of the struggle for independence or in the consolidation of the of identity, diversity and its preservation, also in the way the Mexican government and people have opened their arms to welcome refugees and displaced people from conflict areas through various historical stages. Mexico has played and continues to play leading roles in establishing peace and combating violence.
In this sense, what does the UAE expect from our country at the Expo?
Mexico shines in international exhibitions whenever it gets the chance. The beauty of Mexico, its talents and its abilities give a special touch to these events. The distinguished Mexican cultural colors and the creativity of this diverse country will inevitably attract attention and gather a large number of people around your pavilion. I hope that many countries of Arab culture and other nations will gather around the Mexican pavilion. I’m sure many Arab countries will want Mexico to be close to their zone.
What are the cultural strengths of the UAE that you would highlight?
From the first moment of Expo Dubai, the country’s unique traditions of hospitality will be clear to the visitor (…) at a time when the UAE’s cultural sector has entered a new phase in which value of human creativity and through which it is intended to transfer culture to a sustainable development option.
Historical data in 170 years of universal exhibitions
The first live television broadcast was at the New York General Exposition in 1939. Alexander Graham Bell introduced the world’s first telephone at the Philadelphia Exposition in 1876. And it was at the General Exposition of Osaka, in 1970, that mankind knew the connectivity possibilities of mobile phones.
