Argentinian manufacturing barbarism, directed by Andrew Sala, follows a young man who leaves an environment of violence in Buenos Aires and flees to his father’s ranch, where dead cows begin to appear without explanation. The film arrives at the Marché du Film Goes after its recognition in the last edition of SANFIC; It had previously received the Cinema in Progress award for post-production at the 39th Cinélatino Rencontres de Toulouse and won the Málaga WIP. In addition, he participated in several development instances: in 2020 he was in the Copia Final section of Ventana Sur, where he had already been in 2018 when he was part of Proyecta. That year he was also at the TIFF Filmmaker Lab; in 2017, he participated in the EAVE producers’ workshop; in 2016, he went through the Guadalajara Festival Coproduction Meeting, the Havana Festival Unpublished Scenarios Competition and Produire au Sud at the 3 Continentes Festival. In 2015, he was part of the 13th Ibero-American Film Project Development Course and the Cine Qua Non Lab Script Lab.
This year, five international festivals and markets from Europe, Asia and South America will present their selections of projects currently in various stages of post-production and still looking for a sales agent, a distributor or a selection of festivals.
The Goes to Cannes sessions will take place from May 20-23, and these carefully chosen selections will be presented in two-hour screening sessions alongside talented teams presenting their films in front of an audience of industry professionals.
Among the festivals joining this edition are the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival in Estonia, Thessaloniki International Film Festival in Greece, Hong Kong – Asia Film Financing Forum (HAF), NFDC Film Bazaar in India and SANFIC Industria – International Film Festival of cinema in Santiago.
Notably, the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival has decided to dedicate its entire selection to current Ukrainian works that have yet to find commercial representation.
