The United States, for the big leap in Qatar

Despite football’s lack of popularity, unlike in other parts of the world, The United States has developed in recent decades in this sport. While there isn’t much talent left, the truth is that the heavy investment there has been in MLS has gotten North Americans started in major European leagues.

The Americans all but secured a place by beating Panama 5-1 in Orlando on the penultimate day. And although they momentarily celebrated with a ‘Qualified’ banner after the game, a fact that went viral on social media, they had to wait until the last match in Costa Rica to mathematically secure their place in Qatar.

Christian Pulisic is the figurehead of the American team. The Chelsea striker is enjoying one of his best moments in Europe, being the undisputed starter for the England team, along with other notable appearances. Leipzig midfielder Tyler Adams is ready to show all his football in midfield. While it’s true that he lost the title in his club’s last game, it’s also true that his presence on the pitch is practically inevitable for Team USA.

Ricardo Pepi, the Augsburg striker, is one of the constants of Gregg Berhalter’s formations despite the fact that he couldn’t shine as expected in the Bundesliga. However, he has qualities and with the stars and stripes shirt he wants to continue to show it. And Giovanni Reyna, the Borussia Dortmund player, is back with the USA squad and could become one of the team’s mainstays.

We have confidence that he is the right person to lead our program,” they said in their presentation.

Gregg played in the Netherlands, England and Germany before ending his career as a defender with the Los Angeles Galaxy. He then started his coaching career in the MLS, the American league, and continued it at Hammarby in Sweden. His most important cycle was the five years he spent in the Columbus Crew, between 2013 and 2018.

The history of the United States in football’s biggest event is spotty.
